Obstacle Lesson #1: You Don’t Want It Badly Enough

Otherwise you’d already have it

Here’s a quick mental practice you can do right now…

Think about your current most sought-after goal you have in mind.

It could be making your first dollar online, hitting a PR in the gym, or waking up earlier.

Ask yourself this question:

“Do I REALLY want to achieve that goal and make the sacrifices necessary to achieve it?”

From firsthand experience, I can tell your initial answer would be “heck yes, why not?”

Well, this is where the first obstacle lesson comes into play…

Let’s take the above three goal examples and do some critical thinking here.

Number 1: How would you make your first dollar online?

Well, I can tell again from firsthand experience, that involves prioritizing weeks if not months of late nights studying and mastering a high-demand skill you can offer to the market.

You often end up with more disappointments than victories when you first start, not to include having the ability to self-motivate yourself, especially when times get tough.

Taking into account dealing with annoying clients/customers and having all the burden and responsibility on you, it’s certainly an extraordinary lifestyle.

Number 2: How would you hit a PR in the gym?

Well, you most likely won’t be benching two plates on each side first starting.

That means you’ll need to be consistent in your workout schedule so your body can grow steadily in size and strength over time.

And if you’re not clued up about fitness and health, you’ll be doing a lot of self-education and research about optimizing your diet, sleep, routine, and loads of other factors to account for.

Number 3: How would you wake up earlier?

Well, using common sense, that would require you to sleep earlier. If you’re aiming for an average of 7-8 hours, and you wish to get up at 5 or 6…

That means you need to be in bed no later than 9 or 10. That’s also not considering that time spent in bed doesn’t equate to time spent asleep.

It’d also mean sacrificing nights out with friends on weekends sometimes so that your sleep schedule doesn’t suffer and bounce all over the place.

Why am I saying all of this? To help you understand the most fundamental factor of how the universe works.

Newton’s third law of motion states “For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.”

It’s a naturally occurring, non-negotiable law that’s present in nature, in mathematics, and inevitably in our daily lives.

Nothing in the universe ever comes without a price, implicitly or explicitly.

We live in a world where people “want change” yet nobody “wants to change” for that to happen. It’s impossible to change your life without changing within yourself first.

This is the first key takeaway that you must internalize:

“It’s one thing to want something. It’s another thing to put in the necessary sacrifice and endure the pain and struggle to be deserving of said thing.”

And maybe after reading what it takes just to reach those three goals at the start of this email, you might be reconsidering whether those goals are worth it for you or others.

Now, ask yourself again…

“Do I REALLY want to achieve that goal and make the sacrifices necessary to achieve it?”

With diligence and self-respect,

Meg :)
