Mindset Lesson #1: Everything Around You Is Programming You

It’s time to wake up...

Listen, I’m just gonna be straightforward with you before we start…

Anybody can talk about mindset. Anybody can write feel-good quotes. Anybody can think of timeless platitudes that resonate with everyone.

But very few talk about what it takes to undergo a paradigm shift that changes the way you perceive every micro-action.

Which is exactly what I’ll get into now.

Think about the last time you DECIDED to do something with INDIVIDUAL thinking.

Let’s take this morning for example. The clothes you wore. Why did you pick them? Because they looked good? Because they fit well?

Or was it also because that’s what OTHER people consider fashionable?

And what about breakfast? Why did you eat what you ate? Because it tasted good? Because it was affordable?

Or was it also because that’s what OTHER people ate?

Let’s extrapolate this idea even further…

Think about the music you listen to. The way you talk. The way you walk. The videos you watch. The time you wake up. The career path you pursue. The pocket you put your phone in.

EVERYTHING you’ve ever known is what’s called PROGRAMMING.

Just like you’d program a computer to do certain things, people are born as empty vessels that must be programmed to do certain things.

Now we jump off the deep end…

Somebody or something is programming you. Every. Single. Day.

Your five senses are constantly bombarded by external and EXTREMELY subtle rules that teach you how to behave. And if you don’t abide by some of these rules, there are consequences.

It can be as little as wearing a weird-looking hat which leads to social ostracization. Or it can be as big as not following the speed limit which leads to getting a ticket.

And I don’t advocate breaking the law in any way shape or form, but I’m telling you this so you can be aware.

Now ask yourself…who in the world set the subconscious rules we all live by in the first place?

Why did they set those rules? What is the desired outcome of following those rules?

And most importantly…

Are the rules beneficial to the individual or society at large?

“What’s good for the hive isn’t good for the bee” stands true. Perhaps the programming you live by, consciously or unconsciously, isn’t necessarily evil.

But it may not be beneficial for what YOU want out of life. And there’s nothing wrong with wanting to be different at all.

As a side note, I don’t talk badly about people who work 9-5 minimum wage jobs because we NEED people to work those jobs for society to function. We NEED janitors and fast-food employees.

I’m only speaking to those who don’t want to abide by the societal expectations set for 90% of people. People like YOU.

This is the first key takeaway that you must internalize:

“You have been programmed and will always be programmed to believe certain things to be right and wrong.”

“But can I change my current mental programming?” You might ask. Well, stay tuned next time!

With realization and awareness,

Meg :)
